March the Month

The start of fundraising

Early in 2021 I took part in a fundraiser for Prostate Cancer UK.

The idea was to walk a minimum of 11,000 steps a day but I upped that to 15,000, which equated to just over 6 miles a day. Doing it in March meant walking 31 days in succession.

Since it was during lockdown I was limited to Dundee and its immediate environs. However, Dundee is blessed with a number of excellent urban walks so I didn’t have to repeat many of my treks.

Balgay Hill was a favourite – and handy – venue, but the Ferry, Monifieth, Tayport and Riverside helped enormously. I was also blessed with good weather every time I went out!

At the end of month I had raised £2,219 and the final total raised by all the walkers was a staggering £1,779,532. That showed the generosity of folk, a willingness to support which I hope is repeated for our West Highland Way trek.
