From 3rd – 7th May, Downfield Musical Society presented “Shrek The Musical” at the Whitehall Theatre in Dundee. Each evening there were Brothers and supporters in attendance with collection buckets at the ready as the patrons departed after the show. Garry sent in this report:
In a world where plastic rules and where cash isn’t even a close second, I was prepared for a disappointing result of a bucket collection after each performance of Shrek The Musical, the latest production by Downfield Musical Society in Dundee’s Whitehall Theatre. But my scepticism was replaced by pleasant surprise when a few pence short of £200 was raised for our cause. Yes, the odd copper was chucked in but so was the odd tenner, with one generous donor not thinking twice when a £20 note was dropped in.
Garry.
For us to reach our target of £30,000 we need as much help as we can get, so our thanks go to Downfield Musical Society for allowing us this opportunity and to all those who donated each evening.
A similar collection will be made after each performance by Tayside Opera in June, so fingers crossed for a similar result.
And we’re told that the show was a roaring success as well!
