The third Brothers outing in 4 days took 6 of us back to Balkello woods to tackle ABC (Auchterhouse, Balkello and Craigowl). Iain Arthur joined us for the first time , an opportunity to meet Neil, Steve and Doug for the first time.

Pre-hike Filming

We were joined at the beginning of the walk by Scottish Television, who have taken an interest in our adventure. They interviewed Gary, Neil and me before doing some filming at the start of the walk. The results of filming would appear on the Scottish ITV News at 6pm that evening.

Getting to know the Brothers

Iain, our walk doctor, took the opportunity of his first outing with the Brothers to chat with most of us and hopefully enjoyed the experience.

Craigowl

We stopped at the foot of Craigowl for cake and coffee. The cake was again provided by our Chef de Mission, Diane. After sampling the chocolate cake which she had felt was too moist, the Brothers agreed they could find no fault with it.

On top of the world!

The rain was intermittent throughout the walk but it never got too serious and most of us walked without our waterproofs.

The visibility was fairly good throughout the walk so we enjoyed the views offered at all 3 summits before moving along.

After three hours and nearly 6 miles we were back at our cars and headed to The Pinecone for soup and a sandwich.

The Tay Bridges at dusk

That evening, Neil went for a walk along the prom at Broughty Ferry, and captured this view of the Tay Bridges just as dusk was falling.

A stunning end to a superb day.
