On Sunday along with family and some friends I was introduced to wild swimming in Loch Lomond. The place chosen for the swim was on the West Highland Way about 1/2 mile past Balmaha.
It was a calm day about 6 deg C ambient and with the water approx 3-4 deg C it felt pretty cold. I had to borrow the wet suit, shoes and gloves to keep the cold at bay.

Once in the water the initial cold feeling subsided pretty quickly and I spent approximately 20 minutes swimming . I can see how people get hooked on this as the exhilarating feeling during and after the swim is fantastic. So after my first experience of Wild Water Swimming it will definitely be repeated.
(Ed: Brave man! Especially with Nessie’s cousin lurking in the background…)
